5 Ways to Shop Small This Valentine’s Day

I have just blown my own mind.

In doing a bit of research - on my own blog, mind you - I realized that I have written a slightly different version of the exact same blog post almost every year since I’ve started the blog.

I know, it’s amazing. And boring.

Like, how does one manage to write the same exact post every year, with a bit of a twist? I do not know, but I have done it. And since I’ve been on this train for 5 years, I’m not getting off anytime soon.

I’m not sure how long I can keep doing this, so I might as well try, right?

And yes, of course, I will share all of the previous iterations of this post at the end, so if you read yet another one again next year, you can unfollow me forever. I understand.

Today I’m sharing just a handful of gift ideas from local small businesses in Delaware. I like to shop small when I can, and in this case, I can!

leather wallet.

For our leather anniversary, I got Elliot a doppler kit from this leather company out in Arizona. The quality on this bag is insane. It’s thick, soft and sturdy. This clutch is adorable for ladies, too!

car wash.

On the more practical side, this is a great gift. Last year for Mother’s Day, Elliot treated me to my very first detail and it was a dream. I felt like I was driving a brand new car! A gift card for a good car wash with all the fixings is so thoughtful for the busy person in your life. We have a local car wash that offers a $20 “mini detail”, and it’s my favorite thing.

the good creams.

I for one, never ever splurge on the good moisturizers for myself. This past Christmas, I had picked up an extra body butter from a craft show in case I needed a last minute gift and it ended up staying with me. I have probably moisturized after a shower maybe 7 times in my whole life, and half of those have been in the last month with this body butter. It’s the good stuff. I also grabbed a beard balm for Elliot and he’s a big fan.

natural candles.

Y’all know I’m a huge fan of Kent County Candles. I honestly cannot get enough of her stuff. We have this reed diffuser in Will’s room, because, well, he’s a stinky boy, and candles everywhere. I love burning a candle, knowing it’s not toxic to my family - dogs included - and these smell incredible.

baked goods: strawberries, cupcakes, etc.

I don’t know a single person who turns down a sweet treat on Valentine’s Day. It’s kind of “the thing to do”. We have a handful of truly excellent bakers in Delaware who are whipping out all kinds of delicious treats, including Sweet Melissa’s in Middletown and Kee’s Cookies & Cupcakes in Clayton.

You can always make your own treats at home, too! Here are a few super cute Valentine’s themed treats from my favorite baker.
