You really have no idea how excited I am to finally share this post with you.

As someone who is not only in full nesting mode, but also thoroughly enjoys home decor, this is a big deal. I’ve put it off for a while until all the pieces had come together, and while there is still a little bit of organizing and finding homes for things, it’s pretty much done.

Let’s be honest, it’s going to be somewhat messy 100% of the time once little man arrives, so this is about as good as it’s going to get.

This room has quickly become my favorite room in the house and I find myself going in there just to noodle around and put things away, fold a few things, or just sit in my glider and enjoy it. I’m beyond happy with the way it turned out and I can’t wait to spend a ton of time in there with my baby.

I love the colors, the natural light, the low-key vibes, all of it. I spent a lot of time gathering inspiration and piecing it together.

Naturally, I did as much as I could on a budget, and used some items that I already had. I’ll link everything below and share as many details as I can for ideas and whatnot.

Even before I found out it was a boy, I knew I wanted a sage-y, forest-y green and to keep it pretty neutral. I didn’t want the room to scream “THIS IS A NURSERY AND ONLY BABIES LIVE HERE”. After some debate, we settled on a woodland/owl theme, but mostly a neutral space with greens, browns and grays. I wanted it to be a soothing space for us, as well as our baby, and for it to be a color that wouldn’t have to change immediately if the room was used for something else. Naturally, I looked at about 20 different greens and took about 4 trips to Home Depot before I landed on this color. I even tried a lovely gray-green, but this one is absolutely lovely and I’m a little obsessed with it. If you’re interested, it’s Thai Basil by Behr. We already had the blackout shades and curtains in this room from before, and it was just a gift that they matched perfectly with the theme.

Our furniture (crib, dresser and rocker) are all from Wayfair and I’m really happy with all of them. The rocker is super comfortable and the other furniture is sturdy, solid wood.

Crib: Grove 4-in-1 Convertible Crib

Dresser: Kalani 6-Drawer Double Dresser

Rocker: Soho Swivel Glider

Am I going to mention every time how long it takes me to make decisions? Yes.

I can’t tell you how many times I debated between a name sign, a large photo or a series. I came across these on Etsy, and I instantly loved them. They fit perfectly and I loved the idea of having scripture right over my baby as he sleeps. I really tried to find a sweet deal to get these printed and framed on a budget, whether it be a framing service, a canvas company (like Smallwoods, who printed our wedding photos as seen here). The digital art was around $10 and I got them printed at Walgreens for $30. I found the frames on Amazon for $90 (for the set of 3), so for around $130 I got these 16x20 pieces and I’m really happy with how they turned out.

We’re big readers, so naturally it was very important that we had a stocked bookshelf for our little man. If you saw my post earlier this fall, I swapped the bookshelf from the foyer to put in the nursery and redid the bookshelf that was in Elliot’s office to use in the foyer. You can check that out here. I thought about painting this one too, but it wasn’t a huge priority so it stayed this dark espresso color. I bought this ladder-style bookshelf on Amazon when we first moved in, and it’s been a great piece for decorating, as well as storage.

As you can see, it is FULL of books. Between friends and family gifting well-loved stories at my baby shower and my Usborne Books shower, we have been blessed with lots of books and I am so grateful to have this foundation for my baby’s literacy.

Yes, that is an ambulance book, complete with wheels that actually roll. As my dad is a pediatric critical care transport nurse, it’s only fitting that our boy learns all about ambulances as soon as possible!

Again, yes, of course I have the illustrated Harry Potter books. How else am I going to have him become a Harry Potter fan by the time he enters kindergarten?? Here’s the link for my fellow fans.

The framed cross-stitch piece was created by my aunt, and it just so happened to match perfectly. I love being able to mix personal items and have those special pieces to make the room extra-special. I had a cross-stitch piece in my room growing up so it feels really special to have one for my own baby.

Last but not least, is this quilt. I have another very talented aunt and she makes the most beautiful quilts. She made this for our little guy and I am just stunned at the colors and creativity that went into it. The quilt truly compliments the room so well. Even if my baby won’t be able to use it right away, I like to keep it in the crib for now so I can see it whenever I go in there to fold laundry or organize.

Thanks for letting me share this very special project with you all. It’s been so fun to build a space for us and our little guy, and very cool to imagine all the time we will spend in here together as a family.

If you or someone you know is working on a nursery and has any questions or is looking for ideas, feel free to reach out! I love this stuff.
