August Highlights

It’s the end of August - you know what that means?

It means September is almost here and that means that fall is around the corner and yes, I am absolutely stocking up on all things pumpkin so I can hit the ground running!

It’s been a surprisingly busy and exciting month, and I can’t wait to share all the things with you.

Ready, Set - Go!

It’s a BOY.

Earlier this month, we had a little gender reveal for our immediate family. We’re finally able to share that we’re having a little boy and it’s so fun to finally be able to plan and decorate for my little man.

Shelf Makeover.

In the depths of nursery planning, I discovered that I was going to need to rearrange some furniture in the house. Elliot had a bookshelf in his office that we picked up at a yard sale last year and we love it, but it wouldn’t fit well in the nursery once the furniture was in place. I decided to swap shelves with a more narrow one I had downstairs. However, the bigger shelf was black and wouldn’t match anything downstairs. It was time for another chalk paint makeover! I painted it a light gray and used an antique wax to add some depth and warmth to the shelf. It is absolutely perfect in its new home - which leads me to my next highlight!

Fall Decorating.

No, I don’t typically decorate until later on in September…BUT, there’s a good reason.

See, since I had just finished this absolutely stunning shelf (if I do say so myself), I couldn’t just…leave it empty. And I was absolutely not going to pull out all my neutral, year-round decor to have it up for a month. Come on, I’m pregnant and working on a nursery. I don’t have time for all that. So I thought this was a perfect reason to just take care of it a tad early, and also make my heart happy.

Mission accomplished.

Oatmilk.

This sounds dumb, but hear me out.

I’m convinced this child is going to have as much hair as I do - at birth. It doesn’t matter what I eat, ya girl could have a sip of water and suffer miserable heartburn. I have GERD at a baseline, so it’s just all over not a good time. The ONLY thing I’ve found that helps is oatmilk. It’s weird, but it’s changing my life right now, so it makes the highlights.

Evening porch time.

In the last couple weeks, we’ve had some lovely, cool evenings. Several of these evenings were spent out on our porch, reading, or in my case, writing, in peace until the sun went down. We played it old school and went inside when it got too dark. These were easily some of my favorite evenings this month, hanging out and unwinding with my little fam.

Harry Potter: The Exhibition

My sister and I have been wanting to check out the Harry Potter exhibit at the Franklin Institute since it opened earlier this year. We finally got a chance to go (a month before it closes) and it was everything I could have hoped for. Check out these fun photos from the magical world of Harry Potter!
