July Highlights

Guys, it’s August. That means that summer is coming to an end, and that means….it’s almost fall!

I promise, I’m trying to enjoy summer for everything that it is. And for being the hottest month ever, July has been a lot of fun. But also very hot. Here are the highlights!

afternoons in the pool.

Since it occurred to me that the only time I really have with Will during the week is between 5-7, I’ve worked to spend time outside or do something fun for those hours if I can swing it. It’s been unbearably hot this month, and my neighbors offered to share their pool with us, so I’ve been taking Will swimming several afternoons a week. We enjoy our outside time (Will’s favorite) without melting (my favorite) and we work on his swimming skills we learned in his lessons. It’s been some of my favorite times of the week.

it takes two.

Elliot loves to play video games and my skill set maxes out at Mario Kart, so when we were told about a fun game for couples called It Takes Two, we gave it a shot. It’s cool because you literally need two people to play and there’s a lot of teamwork involved - plus there’s a cute storyline. To be totally honest, I’m terrible at it. But Elliot is endlessly patient with me and it’s been fun to spend time together with one of his favorite hobbies.

piñata cake.

My best friend’s daughter turned two earlier this month and her theme was Taco Twosday, so I made a caramel churro cake decorated like a piñata. It turned out so much cuter than I thought it would and I’m very excited about it. But next year, there’s a three color cap.

cordless vacuum.

Elliot has only been building an argument for a cordless vacuum for about three years now. On Prime Day, I found a deal for this Shark cordless vacuum and pulled the trigger. Our main vacuum is a Shark and I am obsessed with it. It is honestly the best vacuum I’ve ever had, so I felt good sticking with the brand. We’ve had the cordless for about 2 weeks and I’ve used it at least once a day. Great purchase.

beach week.

Some of you may have noticed there was no post last week. I was on vacation with the fam in Ocean City, Maryland. Our annual beach week vacation was super fun, full of good food, sunshine, a bit of rain and some solid down-time. Will had some hesitations regarding sand, but overall, we all had a lovely time.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

“Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.” Mark 2:27
