June Highlights

Here we are at the end of yet another very quick month. While June seems to have flown by WAY too quickly, it’s been a really fun month for me.

Here are the highlights:

Will’s baptism.

Earlier this month, Will was baptized into God’s family and we had a wonderful celebration. Will was very good, did not cry or scream, and promptly grabbed the pastor’s beard for the remainder of the ceremony. We hosted our first party in our new home and it was just a lovely day to celebrate our boy with family and friends.

summer rain.

There’s not much I love more than summer rain. I love all rain, honestly, but there’s just something special about a warm summer storm. We’ve experience storms and rain for the last week or so, and I have not been upset about it one bit. I look forward to rainy days and I’m extra happy about this recent weather because we probably won’t get too many of these weeks this summer.

new fridge calendar.

Am I lame? Yes, and I don’t care. This past week I unpacked my old, very small dry erase calendar that graced our fridge at our old house, and decided it was time for an upgrade. I got this set of dry erase calendars (month view, week view and shopping list) for less than $13, and they are what my organized dreams are made of.

being french.

Many of you know that I’m a big fan of the book, Bringing Up Bebe by Pamela Druckerman. It shares a lot of French parenting characteristics, and I really like their ideas. One of the main topics is about food, and how the French don’t skimp on sweets, chocolate in particular, but they typically have their sweets in the afternoon, and fruit in the evening after dinner. I decided that I cannot give up my sweets entirely, but I could enjoy them earlier in the day, rather than as a dessert or evening snack. I’ve started having fruit in the evenings, instead of ice cream or a sweet, and moving those treats to earlier in the day. I’ve also started swapping my usual cookie or two for a square of good dark chocolate. It’s much more satisfying.

caught up on my reading.

If you were around for last week’s post, I’ve officially caught up on my reading goal for 2023! I am so happy to not be 5-6 books behind schedule anymore. I also read several really good books that I could not put down. Now, to avoid falling behind again!
