September Highlights

It is OFFICIALLY fall.

The weather is cool and breezy, football is back and my heart is singing. I feel like Maria in The Sound of Music singing about how the hills fill her heart with the sound of music. Except, you know, fall fills my heart.

You get the point.

I did “start” fall pretty early, for several reasons, and I regret none of it. I knew that October would be busy, and with the holidays (and a baby) following shortly after, I wanted to get our nursery completed early. With that, came our fall decor. I’ve had my pumpkins out since late August, and I’ve just put the finishing touches on this past week. I’ve already watched Hocus Pocus in preparation for the sequel releasing this weekend, I’ve got my sweaters out and ready, my mums are planted on my front porch - I’m all in for the season and it’s not even October yet!

Best. September. Ever.

Elliot’s birthday.

It technically didn’t happen in September, but we celebrated Elliot’s 30th right after my August Highlights posted - and it was a surprise party, so, I couldn’t tell you guys until afterward. My husband loves to bowl, so we had a party at our local bowling alley, complete with VIP party tent, tons of pizza, and one very surprised birthday boy. We had a wonderful time, and it was super fun getting to spoil my favorite guy.

anxiety rings.

Confession: I have a really bad habit of picking my fingers.

I’m not proud of it. It comes and goes but whenever I get stressed or anxious, I go right back to it. My sister is a gem and bought me these beautiful anxiety rings with beads that I can move around instead of picking my fingers. I’ve been wearing them regularly and I’ve noticed a difference - plus they’re so cute!

nursery progress.

Our nursery is almost finished! We’ve got all the important stuff ready to go, I’m just holding out for a few small finishing touches. We love it in there already, and like to go in to read or just hang out. It’s got a lovely vibe and the natural light is my favorite. Baby boy is going to love it!

fall throw pillows.

I honestly debated on making a whole post on fall decor, solely because of how obsessed I am with these covers. I finally replaced my old covers and I really wanted something more muted in color tone, but with fresh textures and with a more fall/winter vibe. When I say I AGONIZED over these, I truly did. I explored the catalogs from Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn for inspiration, but I wanted to find affordable options that had an elevated look and feel. It took me a month to nail down these covers, with different fabrics in mind, and the exact colors I was looking for.

I only have 6 throw pillows in my living room, but the idea is to mix these together, with the burnt orange ones in the fall, and swapping them out for the red/brown and green ones for Christmas. I am SO excited.
