6 Skincare Products That I Absolutely Adore

Aging is strange.

Not that I’m old. I’m not. But I am getting old..er.

I’m at that weird age where I’m young enough that older people tell me “oh you’re still so young!!” but also, ya girl needs a good night cream.

I’ve always struggled with acne, and I’ve got that super-fun combination/oily skin. It’s a delight.

I recently decided that it was time to start working on finding a multiple-step skincare routine at night. Some people do 7 whole steps! I don’t know how many steps I’ll pick up but, I want to at least try. These things take time.

In my quest to find the best (and easiest) skincare, I’ve found several really great products that I absolutely adore. These products have WOW-ed me, if you know what I mean. Like a 10/10 would recommend to everyone and their mother, they’re that great.

Disclaimer: Everyone’s skin is different, so here’s what works for me. I’ve struggled with acne for as long as I can remember, definitely have some scarring from said acne, and get super oily. So do what you want with that information.

Without further ado, here are my favorite skincare products!

Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream.

I know, I’m late to the game on this one, but HELLO. I started using the cleanser a while ago, but it’s the moisturizer that changed the game. Granted, it was a bigger deal over the winter months where everything is dry, but it’s great if you live in a dry climate, as well. It’s a thick, creamy moisturizer that I used at night to really lock in moisture and restore the skin barrier. I noticed a huge difference in the dryness of my skin super quickly. I also used it on my hands, because they get really dry and crack in between my knuckles in the winter time - again, it basically would repair my hands overnight. I got a huge jar of it at Costco, but you can get it anywhere. You can also find it here.

Murad Invisiblur Primer with SPF

This one was a splurge, okay? AND I got it on a Black Friday sale for a stocking stuffer, for me, from Elliot. So if you want to try it, I would wait for a sale, but it’s totally worth it. Anyway, this is a primer that goes on before your makeup. It’s super-matte, so you don’t get oily, all day long, and its SPF 30, so it protects as well. DOES IT GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT? No. No it doesn’t. It goes on so smooth and literally blurs any scarring or dark spots before your makeup even goes on. It’s basically magic.

Bio-Oil.

This is a new one for me, but I do really like it. It’s a moisturizing oil that can be used on your whole body. I use it on my face sometimes at night, and on my legs after I shave, because it absorbs better and helps reduce bumps without feeling greasy. It’s got a nice scent and a little goes a long way.

CC Cream.

I mentioned this guy not too long ago, but there are reasons. This is one of my favorite products for the warmer months because it’s hot and I don’t like doing my makeup just to sweat it all off. It’s pointless. CC cream (or BB cream, depending on what brand you like) is basically a tinted sunscreen, so I just swipe on a thin layer and my skin is protected from burning (because if you know me, you know this nose burns SUPER easily - it’s not a good look.) It’s just enough coverage to blur any spots, without feeling heavy. I love an easy, one-step product for summer, especially when I’m outside all day or going to the beach.

Dollar Shave Club Moisturizer.

I’ve been a committed member of the Dollar Shave Club for years. I love their razors, I love their products, there is not much that they make that I don’t like. One of my favorite products of theirs is their new Age-Defying moisturizer. It’s a light, super-absorbent moisturizer with hyaluronic acid, that I like to swipe on just before my Murad primer. It doesn’t feel greasy, oily, or have a weird residue. Elliot loves it too - I have to keep a close eye on our stock because it runs out so quickly in our house!

Balance Me Eye Cream.

I don’t use eye cream often, but when I do, I want it to work. Because if I’m using it, it means I look dead. Or almost dead. One of the two. Anyway, this one works. Like magic. I dab a tiny bit on with my moisturizer and by the time it’s dry, my makeup goes on perfectly and I look alive again. At least like I’ve had a cup of coffee and 9 hours of sleep.

Also, here they are - proof they’re on my bathroom sink and I use them regularly. Except the eye cream…because I just ran out..oops

There you have it - my skincare go-to’s that just change the game. Drop your favorites in the comments so I know what to try next!
