6 Must-Pack Travel Essentials

Now that you’re all aware that I spent half of February in Peru, you can expect that you’ll see a decent chunk of travel/Peru themed content in the next couple posts. Which is convenient, because a lot of people like to take a vacation around this time.

Lucky for you, I’ve got a handy-dandy list of things you absolutely must have when you travel, because it most likely makes your life easier. And who doesn’t want that?

travel case of meds.

Look, you don’t need to bring a whole pharmacy on a week-long vacation, but you never know when you’re going to need, say, an Excedrin Migraine, to make it possible to live your life. Or an Immodium. I’m just saying…when you eat new food....stuff happens sometimes....

MOVING ON.

Ever since I was a flight attendant, I’ve carried this little pill case. It’s got several compartments - enough for Motrin, Melatonin, Excedrin, Immodium and some Tums. It’s a no-brainer, and I toss it in my purse when I’m not traveling.

liquid i.v.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. You will never, ever, say to yourself on vacation “Man, I really wish I wasn’t so hydrated! I couldn’t be more hydrated than I am right now!”

Sorry, because flying alone dehydrates you, and it’s VERY difficult to catch up. Which is why I pack a handful of Liquid I.V. packets with me to help rehydrate and boost electrolytes. Because when I’m hydrated, I feel better. When I feel better, I like traveling more.

Hydrate or die-drate, friends.

disinfectant wipes.

Even when we’re not in a global pandemic, it’s a good idea to have disinfectant wipes, for the airport, at the very least. I bring a pack (preferably one with less than half left, so I can toss if needed) to wipe down the seats at the gate and our seats and tray on the plane. I can tell you those planes do not get wiped down, so just do it yourself and give yourself some peace of mind.

flex discs.

LADIES. Not for the men, but hey, if you’re interested in feminine products, be my guest.

I recently tried soft discs, and they changed. the. game.

Seriously. They’re good for up to 12 hours, so you change them literally twice a day (which is such a gift, especially when traveling), there’s little to no leakage, and you don’t feel them at all. If you’re going on a busy vacation, I would definitely recommend giving them a try. These are the ones I use.

cc cream.

I’m not one of those women who does her makeup every day on vacation. Granted, I like to hike and do outdoorsy-type things, so it’s not really necessary. However, I found that CC Cream (or BB cream, I don’t really know the difference) is a wonderful product. It’s essentially a tinted moisturizer with SPF - a one-stop-shop for a protected, even complexion when you’re on the go. It really does make my skin look smooth and clear and I love how quickly I can get ready and head out the door for some adventuring. The one I use is Mary Kay, but you can find it anywhere.

zip-lock bags.

It never occurred to me until this last trip to Peru, that I should have a handful tucked in my suitcase at all times. You never know when you’ll need them, and they’re really handy for wet items, or if you need to pack some snacks that you picked up on vacation. I can’t think of a reason to not pack a few, so there you go.

Whenever and wherever your next vacation is, take one (or all) of these things with you. And tag me on social media when you post your trips - I love to see new places to explore!

“Then you will go safely on your way, and you will not hurt your foot. When you lie down, you will not be afraid. As you lie there, your sleep will be sweet.” Proverbs 3:23-24

“And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15
