Baby Items I Can’t Live Without

This weekend, Will will be eight months old. EIGHT. Can you believe it? Because I sure can’t.
While I’m trying to wrap my head around the fact that before I know it, he will be celebrating his very first birthday, I’m also trying to slow down and take in everything that he is at this very moment. Which is - if you’re wondering - vocal, clingy, curious, smart, sweet, and oh-so adorable my heart can’t take it.
I always hear moms say that they have a bunch of stuff they never used. I did a quick inventory, and while we’ve honestly used everything, there are definitely a few things that stand out as “musts”. Today, I’m sharing with you the “baby must-haves” for our (almost) eight-month-old.
nuna staples.
We’re a Nuna family. We decided on the Nuna travel system and it just makes so much sense. It’s easy to clean, super safe, sturdy, and so user-friendly it’s ridiculous. We purchased two additional carseat bases for different cars and it makes it so easy to get him all strapped in. The stroller has the big “off-roading” wheels that Elliot insisted on, and folds up like a dream. We also went with the Nuna high chair because A. it’s easy to take apart and hose off. Yes, hose off, because my child is a disaster with yogurt, and B. it literally grows with your child and functions as a booster seat to use at the table, so we will be using it for YEARS. I would absolutely recommend any one of these items. Yes, they’re pricey, but they are items we will use for years, are safety-focused, and can use with another child in the future.
hatch light.
Will uses this nightlight every single night, and we even brought it on vacation with us. It has a sound machine built in, and you can customize the sound and color settings. I have ours set to go on automatically at 6pm, so that it’s already on when I bring him up to his room to go to bed.
sassy teething keys.
Funny story - my boss threw me a baby shower, and she enlisted her young children to select a toy for Will. They agreed on this set of teething keys, and the toy was accompanied with a note that said,
“This is for Miss Rebekah’s baby when he turns zero and is very so small.”
I loved the note so much that it stayed on my refrigerator, and made it in the move to our new fridge. Anyway, it’s Will’s favorite toy. We bring it with us every time we leave the house; it virtually lives in Will’s hands (yes, we wash it, I promise).
floor seat.
We have two seats, and we use them A LOT. Will loves to hang out on the counter in his Bumbo seat when we are cooking or baking or washing dishes, and he likes to sit in his sit-me-up seat in our office or living room. He can almost sit up unassisted, so we may not have much longer with these items, but they have been staples for the last several months.
mesh feeders.
THESE. I don’t think I could live without these. Will LOVES to chew on frozen fruit, and especially now that he’s chomping on everything, I can safely let him chew on a healthy snack. I use them a lot when I’m getting his food ready or need a few minutes. He will happily snack on frozen blueberries and strawberries as long as I need to get something done. He has been grabbing them and feeding himself for a while now, so it’s a very hands-free way to give him a snack.
tubby todd bath products.
I tried out Tubby Todd bath products at the recommendation of a friend, and I will never go back. I don’t know what it is, but Will’s skin is so much softer when he’s bathed with Tubby Todd. We have the wash, lotion and all over ointment, and they’re fabulous. The body wash and lotion smell SO GOOD, and the ointment heals almost any rash in a day or so.
musical teddy bear.
This bear is precious. It sings scripture, and has nature sounds, and you can charge it with a USB wall adapter. It sings Will to sleep every single night and I just love that we get to say our prayers, put him down and have God’s promises sung over him while he falls asleep. It was a gift and I just love it so much.
I’m a strong believer in fresh air, prayer and a good cup of coffee. Let’s be friends!
