9 Indoor Home Projects

I think I got my winter wish. A cold winter with snow.

It’s a chilly evening as I sit down to write this. There’s snow on the ground and it is cold.

I’m not complaining, not in the slightest. But I’m definitely not itching to spend time outdoors right now.

I like to use this part of the year to catch up on things around the house. Last year, we bought an older house, and we have quite the list of things to replace or update. Some of these smaller projects are ones we can do over a weekend or afternoon.

After all, when it’s time for “spring cleaning” it’s nice to be able to take care of the outdoor things quickly, so I can spend some time in the sunshine, rather than cleaning out a bunch of stuff I could have gotten rid of months ago.

Here are some of the home projects I’m taking care of in my house - and a few bonus ideas!

new curtains or put up new curtain rods

Our new house only had a handful of old curtains up, so I got some new thermal ones at Costco, and we put up some sturdy, modern rods from Amazon. I liked the rods so much, I put them in every room.

organize/clear out basement

Elliot just got me these weatherproof bins and they’re mouse-proof, air-proof, and NOTHING is getting in these bad boys. Plus, they’re clear, and ON SALE!

new blinds/room darkening shades

We got these for Will’s room and love them!

new furniture

I mean, if you’re feeling extra fancy. We just bought ourselves dressers! We had one in our old house that was freebie from a friend, so this is our grown-up set, and I am obsessed! These are the ones we got, from Home Depot! They’re heavy and beautiful and I love them.

paint or upcycle furniture

I just acquired a nightstand on Buy Nothing that will be adorable with a fresh coat of paint and hardware! Although it might be a spring project with these temperatures!

shampoo carpets

clear out/organize a closet or cabinet

I just organized our laundry room closet with one of these organizers. I have one in Will’s closet, too!

hang art, photos, or something new!

start decorating for spring

It will be here before you know it!
