October Highlights

It is the end of the best month of the year.

I’m a little sad that it’s over, but I’m so happy it happened. Like my lovely friend, Anne of Greene Gables said,

I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.
— L.M. Montgomery

This has been a truly beautiful October, with chilly evenings, cozy flannels and the most beautiful colors.

Shenandoah.

We actually visited Shenandoah at the end of September, but it didn’t get included in last months Highlights, so here we are. We took Will on his first hiking trip and he had an absolute blast. We took him on two hikes, and he only cried for half of one. I booked the CUTEST cabin, and I loved it so much, I’ll only stay there from now on. It was a lovely weekend away, disconnected and spent with family and enjoying God’s creation.

HP movie night: round 2

This month, I hosted our family’s second Harry Potter movie night, and our first movie night in our new house. In true Halloween fashion, the film of the evening was Prisoner of Azkaban. We had themed snacks, un-themed pizza, some apple cider and a wonderful time.

nanny.

It was time. Will has become quite the busy guy and we needed the extra help. I was very concerned about having someone come to my home and take care of my child, but God is good, and we found the best nanny. Will ADORES her. I love that I can see Will throughout the day and give him a quick hug on my lunch break, but I also have the space to focus on my work.

my birthday.

Okay, so all my mamas out there will totally understand what I mean when I say for my birthday, I really just wanted to have a really fun day where I get to put on a cute outfit and go to Marshall’s and Home Goods BY MYSELF. Nobody but little old me and a pumpkin spice latte, browsing my favorite stores for some cute things I don’t need. Not only did I do ALL OF THAT, but I also went out to an EARLY dinner with Elliot, and was home in my comfy clothes by 8 pm. It was bliss.

craft fair.

Y’all know how much I love a good craft fair, better known as an excuse to buy a lot of candles. Last weekend, I went with my best friend and our combined kids and explored one of the largest local craft fairs in the area. I bought some goodies from Kent County Candles, because their stuff is just so. dang. good. and some little gifts for Christmas. We went to lunch afterward and had two babies in high chairs sharing Cheerios and it was just. the. best.

There are still a few more days left of October, and plenty of time to enjoy not only Halloween, but also, Taylor Swift’s new re-rerecorded album. It drops tomorrow and I’m a tiny bit excited.
