A Thanksgiving Prayer

Happy Thanksgiving!

I don’t have a blog post for you today. Instead, I have a prayer.

It’s Thanksgiving, and our world needs prayer more than ever, so bow your head, and join me in prayer.

Dear Jesus,

Thank you. Thank you for this day - for filling our lungs and waking us up this morning. We take it for granted so often that we are given another day.

Thank you for this day to celebrate and give thanks with our loved ones. I love this holiday so much. I love waking up and having cinnamon rolls with my coffee. I love watching the parade and I love coming together around a table to share a meal. It is such a gift.

Thank you for my family and friends, for the people who love and support me day in and day out. Thank you for placing them in my life and for the love they show me. I am so grateful for each of them and the gift they are. Thank you for placing them in my corner.

Thank you for my home - for the walls and roof that keep me and my family safe and warm. Thank you for my safety when there are so many places in the world that are dangerous and harmful. Please be with everyone who is in a war zone and have lost loved ones. Keep your arms around them, give them strength and peace and protect them from evil.

Thank you for our leaders, our healthcare providers, our first responders, law enforcement and all those who help and serve us. Thank you for my country, and for everyone who sacrificed their lives for us to live here.

Thank you for every blessing You’ve bestowed upon me - whether I wanted it or not. You’ve watched over me every day of my life and will continue to do so for eternity. You are so good. Thank you for loving me the way you do. I don’t deserve it, but I am so grateful.

Amen.
