November Highlights

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I’ve learned over the last few years that when you post religiously on Thursdays, you tend to land on Thanksgiving. Weird trend, right?

Today, I hope you spend your morning in your comfiest sweats (mine are men’s these days, and I’m honestly not sure I’ll ever go back), having some coffee and catching some of the Thanksgiving Day parades. I hope you spend your afternoons catching up with family and friends, enjoying some football and an incredible meal. I hope you spend your evenings with more family, some pie and maybe a glass of egg nog or whatever your favorite holiday beverage is.

I hope today is full of joy, gratitude, love and peace. I think we all need a little bit more of that in our lives.

This year, Thanksgiving landed on the last Thursday of the month, so today, I’ll wrap up November with some of the highlights.

the nursery.

A few weeks ago, I FINALLY finished up the nursery. I’m so happy with how it turned out, I wrote a whole post about it. If you missed it, you can check it out here. It’s easily my new favorite room.

Christmas decorating.

It’s been a slow process, mostly because I’m 8 months pregnant and have a bunch of holidays to prep for, but I’ve taken down my fall decor and have put up both of my Christmas trees and a few additional decorations. I have a little bit left to do, but it already feels so festive and I just love spending my evenings enjoying them.

babymoon.

Elliot and I just spent a long weekend in the Poconos on a little “babymoon”. We love to travel and it was nice to take a weekend away, just the two of us, while it’s still just the two of us. We spent the weekend hiking (more like a nature walk for this pregnant lady), checking out some local holiday shops, enjoying some wonderful meals, relaxing and watching movies and sipping hot chocolate and talking about our future as a family of three. It was a lovely weekend and I’m so glad we took the opportunity to spend that time away, even in the midst of a busy season.

fireplace.

This week, we received a little Thanksgiving miracle.

Backstory: Our fireplace was in rough shape when we bought our home in 2018, and it officially died almost two years ago. Last fall, I called to get a technician to replace it and the wait time had the unit arriving in April. I couldn’t justify spending the money on it at that time, right before Christmas, when I wouldn’t even be able to use it for the cold months. I called again this past spring to order a new fireplace and it was supposed to come in late November/early December. A month ago, I was told it would arrive and be installed in mid-December, which is kind of cutting it close when I’m due December 23rd.

Last week, the unit arrived and it was installed on Tuesday this week, just in time for Thanksgiving. It is absolutely gorgeous, has a ton of settings and gives off the most cozy vibes. I am SO hype for every evening I get to spend in my living room with my Christmas trees and fireplace.

week of gratitude & thanksgiving.

In preparation for today, Thanksgiving, I challenged myself to post something every day this past week that I am grateful for, focusing on the little things, as well as the big things. In this last Week of Gratitude, I’ve been a little more intentional about finding things I’m thankful for. I truly believe it has made me more aware of my blessings and kept them at the forefront of my mind.

I hope you all had a chance this past week to reflect on your blessings and count out a few good ones. If you are so inclined, I’d love if you shared some of your blessings below in the comments.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4-7
