A Few Of My Favorite Things: February Edition

Well, just like that, February flew by. I’m not even sure what I was doing for half of it, but here we are, and March is right around the corner.

How was your February? Was is relaxing? Was it busy? Maybe it was super exciting or maybe it was the lull that you needed to get ready for spring. If you haven’t checked out my guest post last week on Coffee with Keri, you can read it here for some ideas on how to make the most of a winter weekend.

Personally, February was busy, and I didn’t have much time for extra “fun” stuff, but there were definitely some highlights, and here they are!

Benjamin.

My best friend, Kimberley, just had her first baby and I am just OBSESSED with him. He is the most perfect baby boy and I just love him to pieces. She is already an exceptional mother and I am so so happy for this brand new family. Kimberley and Andrew, congratulations on your adorable son, you guys are amazing parents and I’m so proud of you both. He is so precious, I just can’t handle it and I LOVE being Aunt Bekah. I am so excited to watch this little boy learn and grow and become everything that he is meant to be.

And now, everyone swoon at how CUTE he is!!

P.S. - Nothing else in this post matters half as much as this tiny baby being born, but, I figured I would have more than one update for the month. So, if you wanna just hang here and look at baby Ben, go for it, I completely understand. This post basically starts and ends here, with some extras afterwards.

Rest.

This month, I have been working on figuring out how to show up for myself so I can show up for others. You can read more about this in The Significance of Self-Care. I’ve found that for me, rest doesn’t necessarily look like being a couch potato for a day, or even treating myself to a mani/pedi. Although, I do love me a good pedicure. For me, rest is taking just a little bit of time to disconnect from the stresses of life (which usually mean my phone), and enjoy some space to decompress. This month, I’ve discovered a few things that really help me relax, like going to the dog park. I love taking Mollie to the park to make some friends on a beautiful day. We’ve had some nice weather this February, and I’ve taken advantage of it whenever I could. It’s a lovely break to just go outside and forget about your phone and meet some people who love their dogs as much as I love mine. Time flies and its just a wonderful refresher.

P.S.- For those of you who may be wondering why Ellie doesn’t go, it’s because she doesn’t like it. She’s a cranky old lady and doesn’t like to play with dogs that are 5x bigger than her.

Music.

I’ve been playing a lot of music, and learning a lot while I’m at it. I am serving on the Women’s Emmaus Walk this spring as a musician, and I am learning a lot from my partner, who is INCREDIBLY talented and has been leading worship for like, ever. I feel super blessed to have an opportunity to learn from someone like her. I also have several shows coming up with The Great Awakening Band, and I’m learning a bunch of amazing songs, so it’s been a lot, but really cool too.

Plants.

Recently, I’ve decided that I would like to learn more about how to keep plants alive. I’ve grown my collection to include two tiny succulents, one aloe plant, one Christmas cactus, and the newest addition is a dieffenbachia. I’m not sure how I can keep two dogs alive and well, but I tend to kill plants. So I’m trying to learn a little bit and maybe even help them grow?? If anyone has any tips, PLEASE feel free to send them my way.

Also, Happy Leap Day!!
