10 Simple Things That Feel Like Self Care

I realize that I accidentally-and-definitely-not-strategically managed to take my blogging hiatus during my least favorite month. February is hard and cold and a little bit meh. March is a little bit better, but I and I’m sure many others struggle a little bit with the cold weather and dreary days.

Lately, I’ve been trying to adjust my focus (again) on the little things. As a new mom, there are a lot of little “luxuries” that I didn’t realize were luxurious until I had Will. Like that first sip of fresh coffee in the morning - it feels like self-care these days. I usually get about 2 or 3 sips of that perfect temperature before it gets cold or I forget where I left it. #Parenting.

There are a lot of little things that just feel so good to do for myself that I consider it self-care. While I am super busy with a baby and now back to work full-time, I feel like its really important to take those few moments when I can get them and do something just for me.

Today I’m sharing my list of simple things that feel like self-care. I’m doing this more for myself than anyone else, because if I’m not careful and really intentional, I will put myself dead-last after everyone else on the planet. I am important enough to take a little time each day to be kind to myself. So are you. If we can’t be kind to ourselves, how can we be kind to others?

So today, I’m going to take a few extra sips of my coffee, while it’s still hot.

Here is my list - I encourage you to take a moment and think of a simple thing that feels like a little vacation for your soul. Then go do that thing.

  • an evening spent curled up with a book and a blanket. so hygge.

  • my new skincare routine

  • my favorite flavor of sparking water

  • the fact that the new season of Bridgerton is coming out soon.

  • new jeans that fit just right

  • walking my dogs on a warm, sunny afternoon

  • getting the mail. I don’t know why, but I love to get the mail.

  • trying a new workout program

  • blowdrying my hair

  • crisp, clean sheets

“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
